…and we’re back!

So, yeah, I’ve been MIA for a while!

As most of you who follow this blog or keep up with me on Facebook or in real life know, my magnificent husband passed away December 2nd of last year and i’ve spent THIS year floppin’ around like a fish out of water!  I’ve run back and forth from Paris, Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana three different times for weeks at a time.  And as I wrote about in my last blog post many month ago, my circle of friends and family has experienced more huge losses as the year has continued.  The first anniversary of my Big Paul’s passing is rumbling at me like a freight train but I really believe that after it comes and goes that I will begin to rise up and live life again to the fullest!  I feel the pain and sorrow of the first holidays without him coming but I also feel the promise of a new year and new beginnings coming soon after!

I quit my job as a registered nurse.  Being a nurse was a very fulfilling and rewarding job but doing it now reminds me of my sweet husband and his illness to the point of discomfort.  I have, therefore, decided that I am going to pursue my art full-time!  It is my heart’s desire!  I do feel alive when I create!  I express my emotions and thoughts through my art!  I paint what God is speaking to my heart and there is nothing I would rather be doing than expressing myself creatively through art!

I have been able to eeeek out a few commissions during the year and I am very pleased with the way that they have all turned out.  You can see some of the new pieces as prints on my Society6 page.  While I was creating the most recent piece, shown above, entitled Psalm 23, I had the idea to actually do a series of paintings based on the Psalms.  One piece for each Psalm!  That should keep me very busy for a good while!

Work in Progress

So today I have had some time to get messy and make a background and paint the underpainting of this bird!  The background has been tons of fun.  I just played with all kinds of supplies and its been pretty sweet.  I have modeling paste under my fingernails, paint up to my elbows and glazing medium on my jeans, but it has been heavenly.  Its been quite a while and I NEEDED it!  I will post the painting when its finished.  Hopefully, it won’t be too long from now!  This one is not a commission and will be for sale!
